Finding a good herbalist

Much of what's written in this article is entirely suitable for a person to work through themselves but, especially if things are quite bad, or you just know that you need further help, then there may be a great deal of benefit to you to go to whatever lengths necessary to find a good herbalist to guide you on to a safe and strong treatment program. Physical health

Many men get erectile dysfunction (ED) and, whilst most are aware of the drug or surgical options, these do not suit everyone and there is good reason to investigate if there are legitimate alternatives. There are some good herbal options for ED, substances that have been seen to consistently improve sexual health for millennia, we didn't pass on what doesn't work!

Firstly though, there is a simple question to know if things are in proper working order; namely does he wake up with an erection or get one any time in the morning? If the answer to that question is yes, then you know that he is getting adequate blood flow but if it's no then you must look at is the health of the heart and the circulation.

Arrhythmias &/or Palpitations

If there are irregularities in the heart rhythm, and particularly if they began around the time that ED became an issue, carefully read about what to do here

High Blood Pressure

Many blood pressure drugs make ED worse but in any case, high blood pressure is a symptom of an underlying imbalance, one that could be causing ED itself, read more here

Herbal Approaches

There are four herbs in particular that stand out for ED, from their highly regarded historical use and responding well to modern scientific tests.

Ginseng

The 'Emperor tonic' of Chinese medicine, Panax Ginseng, is almost certain to improve energy in general and will likely help improve sexual health at the same time, more on it here

Withania

Withania is famous in Indian Ayurvedic medicine and, like Ginseng, it has many clinical studies showing a diverse range of benefits to human health, more here

Damiana

Damiana has a rich folk-history as an aphrodisiac. It is a safe and pleasant herb that is likely to have a general tonic action as well as helping with ED, more here

Epimedium

Lastly the rather infamous Epimedium (also called Horny Goat Weed, Randy Beef-Grass etc.) does have some genuine science supporting its reputation as a kind of natural Viagra. more here

In practice, we commonly use several or even all these herbs in a combined formula at the same time.

Building back confidence

All men who have any experience of erectile dysfunction go on to suffer from at least some degree of 'performance anxiety' from that moment on. It creates a certain kind of nervous tension that may not easily go away by itself.

Men often use the phrase 'self-fulfilling prophecy' when they talk about this. They can see perfectly well that when they are worried that something will go wrong that this is exactly what happens. The more it happens the more they worry about it happening and the problem gets worse.

This is a tough problem but it has solutions; firstly, you must find a way to tell your partner how you are truly feeling about the matter, secondly, you must then both drop certain expectations

Talking about it can be incredibly difficult, most men never discuss it with anyone, including their closest friends but once you can talk about it with your partner you have aleady taken the hardest step. Then you can work on a solution to the problem together. .

You must start by dropping any expectation for prolonged penetration, at least for the time being. Then everyone can relax and start really enjoying themselves again.

Another expectation to drop is about frequency. After the teens and twenties, the average amount of time for a man to build sperm and sexual energy after having an orgasm is approximately equal to days per decades. In other words, a man in his 40s might expect to be naturally ready to have sex every 3 or 4 days, a man in his 50s every 4 or 5 days, a man in his 60s every 5 or 6 days and so on.

A man who suffers from premature ejaculation must practice non-penetrative sex so he can get accustomed to maintaining an erection without feeling an overwhelming urge to finish.

A man who has trouble maintaining an erection also must drop the expectation for prolonged penetration and shift his focus away from himself and on to her. Practice making love instead of having sex. The more you can bring pleasure to your partner, and so forget about yourself, the better things will come right by themselves.
